Tesla hail repair
without the booth.

Teslas are unusually good candidates for paintless dent repair and unusually bad candidates for conventional refinishing. Knowing which panels can be worked and which cannot is most of the job.

What makes a Tesla its own problem.

Big, flat, single-piece panels. A Model 3 or Model Y roof and hood are large uninterrupted surfaces with very little crowning. Flat panels are less forgiving than curved ones: there is no natural tension helping the metal hold its shape, so every correction has to be precise and the whole surface has to be read as one piece rather than dent by dent.

Aluminum in much of the body. Like a BMW, the aluminum has minimal memory and has to be walked back into shape deliberately. On the larger Tesla panels that means a lot of small, controlled moves rather than a few big ones.

The glass roof. On most Model 3 and Model Y cars the roof is glass, not metal — which means it cannot be dent-repaired at all. Hail either broke it or it did not. That materially changes how a claim gets scoped, and it is the single most common thing insurers get wrong on a Tesla hail estimate.

Softer factory paint. Tesla finish is widely regarded as thinner and softer than most German marques. That argues even harder against refinishing — a repaint is hard to match to a panel that is already weathered, and it is another reason to keep the original paint on the car if the metal can be saved.

Before you file the claim.

Two things worth knowing about Tesla hail claims specifically.

Panel replacement gets expensive fast, and on an aluminum unibody car the labor to replace is not comparable to the labor to repair. A scoped PDR estimate is frequently a fraction of a replacement estimate, which matters whether you are filing or paying out of pocket.

The glass has to be scoped separately. If the roof, rear hatch glass, or windshield took damage, that is a different line item with a different supplier than the body work, and leaving it off the first estimate is what causes the supplement fights later.

We document all of it panel by panel — that is what the written estimate is for.

The short version.

Evaluations are free and need no appointment during shop hours. We will tell you what can be worked, what has to be replaced, and whether it is worth your deductible at all. A fully scoped written hail estimate is $500, credited back when you repair with us — and not charged at all if you are leaving the vehicle for the repair.

All carriers accepted, and in Texas the choice of shop is yours regardless of what your insurer suggests. Everything we do carries a lifetime warranty on workmanship for as long as you own the vehicle. Full detail on our straight-answers page.
